Galapagos Charles Darwin Historical Research Center
 
  Charles Darwin Research Center, Puerto Ayora, Santa Cruz, is a nature center dedicated to preserving Galapagos ecosystems. The tem of this center has more than two hundred scientists, educators, research volunteers and support staff.

Charles Darwin Foundation for Galapagos Island is an international not-for-profit organization. This organization ensures the proper preservation of the Galapagos Island. They provide scientific research and technical information.

The center is a great place to see the famous giant tortoises that gave the island their name. Young tortoises are returned to the wild after they hatch. These tortoises are big enough to protect themselves from other animals in the wild. The research center is a protection and breeding center for lot of animals but most of all its focus is on the giant tortoise.

Another species that catch the eye is Lonesome George. It is one of the rarest species of the world. This center is open for public.
